URBAN SCENTS

It is no secret that today Berlin, the ultimate modern den of creativity, acts as a magnet for artistic minds from all over the planet. It is the case of Versailles-born Marie Le Febvre, a young French “Parfumeur Créateur ”: whom after years formulating scents for houses such as Gucci, Lancôme and Chloé, together with Austrian husband Alexander Urban (who has travelled the world in search of precious ingredients for fragrances) has chosen the German capital to found Urban Scents, a small independent perfume company with an unique approach to perfume making. The core of the brand is a capsule collection of 6 unisex scents (and 3 scented candles ) produced in Grasse by a small perfume house founded by Edmond Roudnitska (creator of the mythical Eau Sauvage) using pure ingredients carefully sourced from small manufacturers from around the world (the vetiver is grown in the Reunion Island). The elegant bottles are handmade the Northern France. But it is the exclusive made-to-measure creations that Marie elaborates in her Berliner atelier for clients from all over the globe that make this company unique. Bespoke scents that are like olfactorial portraits are born after a long creative process that sees Marie absorbing the customer’s wishes personality and lifestyle in order to generate an unique fragrance that will set you back € 8000. In addition, as the Berlin laboratory is located in an art gallery, the perfumer collaborates with various artists to develop the perfect scent for each exhibition. The latest project? A limited edition (20 bottles, € 300 each) of a product designed in symbiosis with the TapeOver Berlin international street art crew (http://www.tapeover.berlin), whose art exhibition will be in the gallery until mid-September. Each bottle is engraved and signed by the artists. “When you own one of these perfumes, you become a part of an exclusive private art club” says Marie.
